General FAQ

What is the plugger?

For fans, this is a place to become part of your artists team, help them and work alongside them by spreading information found on individual artist profiles. This is NOT a service to replace things like Myspace, nor is it a community platform where you'll find latest scores on how many sheep are there in ones farm. This also is a website to discover new music and share, meet and interact with people alike, sharing your interests and views on what's hot and what truly is not.

If you are an artist, this is a place where you can get closer to your fans, work with them, reward them, and create an organic following and feed the demand naturally. People in your artist profile are those who genuinely are interested in what you do, and what's happening in the near future. This also is a place where you can make your music available on ITunes, or any other digital shop for that matter, globally, without frustrating label shopping and being turned down 13 times in a dozen.

This is a website where you are able to interact with your fans, get them involved and promote your music globally. You can set up your own online store, and keep the majority of income yourself, and actually earn money. In a nutshell, THAT is what The Plugger is all about.

Street Teams?

Street teams are groups of individuals who are willing to spread the word out on bands and music in grassroot level by word of mouth or through internet and using promo materials (stickers, samplers, posters,etc.). Word spreads quickly and efficiently via several websites, communities and portals even with a small number of street teamers. Also utilizing promo materials and putting them in places such as record stores, live shows, shopping malls, schools, streets, skate parks etc. is more classical way to do street teaming, but yet efficient.

Spreading by word-of-mouth is the BEST way to hear about new music because it's coming straight from one fan to another!

In a modern world it is also a community. Bringing people with the same taste and mind together. Teaming up is power!

Fan User FAQ

How do I join?

Before you become a team member you have to sign up and create your own personal account. Pay attention to filling in your personal details and the questionnaire. Questionnaire is used to determine which news articles are posted to your personal profile and what information you will receive from us. After signing up you are to create your own profile page, which is your personal home at The Plugger. Although you will receive news and information based on your chosen genre tags, you should also join individual artist profiles that you find interesting, to gain credits and get rewarded.

Does this cost anything?

One word: No.

How do I know what to do?

Just check out the team tasks on your own profile page. Available tasks will be shown in your personal profile (for those teams you belong to). You can do your own promo stunts all the time, like spread out flyers and also do radio requests. You can do anything just use your imagination and then report this to us. You will also receive news feeds from artist profiles matching your genre/interest selection on the questionnaire you filled when you signed up for the service, but the Street team tasks are only available and visible to you if you have signed up for the artist profile in question.

The basic idea is, that the louder and weirder the stunt, the better. Use your imagination.

Always remember to report what you’ve done.

On your personal profile page we encourage you to write your own journal. Write album reviews, live reviews, write a road story or just about anything you feel like. The best ones will be published monthly on The Plugger newsletter going out to thousands of people within The Plugger community. Be heard!

What do I get out of this?

First, you will see your favourite band’s music spread and actually know you are a crucial part of the crew. You can receive all kind of special merchandise, free tickets to gigs, meet and greets, invitations to listening parties, free downloads, free cds, names on the guest lists… You will also find new interesting artists matching your genre selections and maybe find that very one that will be the next big thing. You can also meet like-minded people who share the same passion for music. Being in the Street team is all about teaming up and sharing.

What are credits and how do I earn them?

Credits are used to determine your level of activity within The Plugger and are earned from the promotion what you do. So have your flyers with you all the time and speak about the band to your friends, work buddies, schoolmates, people you run in the streets, put the banners on your MySpace, spread the word via Twitter, Facebook etc. Take a picture of you doing things or about your things and report to us.

Sometimes cooperation with bands may be short and with only few tasks. So if you join in many street teams you have more opportunities to earn credits...and credits from different teams can be combined. Credits do not automatically mean that you will receive prizes. Prizes are awards for the tasks. But having more credits on your account and a higher upgraded street teamer status means that you will receive more promo material and will get more out of Plugger - for yourself.

Logging in will automatically earn you credits, so visit often!

Why was I removed from a team?

The most common reason people are removed from teams is because once we send you goods we never hear back from you. If you join a street team - you are responsible for sending us feedback – it’s all about interaction.

Why did I not receive promotional materials?

We have only limited amount of promo goodies, so the more active you are, the more material you get. Newbies should be active with e-tools on message boards, twitter etc. to gain higher status and become part of the physical mail-outs

What is an Active Member?

Active members are the core of new teams in the Plugger and receive most promo materials from the bands. To give our humble thanks for this they are on top of the list receiving free materials to rate, being invited to listening parties and so on... To become an Active Member, be active. It’s not difficult at all.

SOME RULES TO FOLLOW - very important

All promotion material is to be given out freely. It may NOT be sold. Do Not Sell your materials anywhere.

Some shops or venues may have rules against handing out materials on their property…so ask from the shop owner or the venue staff. And use your braincells when stickering the streets!

DO NOT stick windows or private property or any illegal places. YOU are responsible for what you do!

I lost my password - what to do?

If you lost/forgot your Urbanited password you`ll need to register again. After the registration send us an email and we will transfer your credits to your new profile.
